So this week I thought I’d give Ombre hair a go!
A few people had asked me what I thought of the new Loreal Paris DIY Préférence Wild Ombré Haircolour Kits. Luckily, I love the look and fancied a bit of a style shake up anyway so I was more than happy to trial this one out.
To achieve the on trend look normally costs a fair amount of money, however I was really surprised when I picked up a packet in Super-drug at its cost, less than £6! A beauty bargain! There were 3 colours available all resulting in light brown/blonde colours. Having naturally very dark hair I picked up Kit No1 for darker hair.
I couldn’t wait to get home and try it out. I wet my hair and put a very old towel around my shoulders. The kit comes in neat little packages and is really simple to mix together. It was so easy to apply and the special application brush made it so easy to brush through. I started brushing just below my jawline down to the tips of my hair.
One thing I will say ladies is make sure you get enough bleach on the ends of your hair as you don’t want the ends looking darker than the hair near your jaw. If you have long thick hair like me, make sure you are really getting into all the layers and down to the very ends of your hair. The application was easy and quick and the coverage was fab! After leaving it to develop for around 25 minutes I washed it out and blow dried!
My hair did feel really dry and a little weak straight away to be honest, but as is perfectly natural when you bleach your hair I guess. I applied a little Argon oil to the ends of my hair and that seemed to sort it out brilliantly! I’d say that’s a must ladies!
I was thrilled with the results and couldn’t wait to wear my hair down and swish it about. I felt pretty darn cool! And what’s great, is you don’t have to worry about roots! The colour was great (a lighter or darker look can be achieved depending on how long you leave it on for) and the way it blended into my natural colour was fab, thanks to that clever little brush!
I used a cheap hair mask once a week to make sure it stayed in good condition and kept the argon oil at hand. That way my hair didn’t dry out.
Our lovely hair columnist kellie knows all about argon oil :) It's deffo a statement look. I love wearing a red lippy with it to really vamp it up!
So If your looking for a quick and easy style shake up that’s bang on trend, I couldn’t recommend this one more girls! Maybe next time I’ll try a more wild colour! Blue anyone? x
