Who at some point of their lives haven’t been in a situation when you have proudly proclaimed to the world.. ‘You only live once! So let’s do it!’ Its so funny how these words can open the door to so much freedom and jettison us into new horizons but they can also open the door to us crashing and burning in the skies. Freedom is something that in this culture we embrace and those words when applied correctly can unlock the new, but they have to be accompanied with the words responsibility, caution and that difficult word ‘self control’. As a child I was obsessed with roller coaster rides, I loved the bright lights and sheer sense of fear co-existing… Read More →

Welcome to the final part of my interview with Julie Elliott MP fab fashionable fearless PT2. I ended last week asking Jullie ‘What does it take to become an ‘Independent Woman?’ Julie answered with the shortest sentence in the interview one word ‘FINANCE’. My heart skipped a beat as she explained to me all the problems that can come from not being financially independent, including the dangers of not being able to exit abusive relationships to stress. She clearly explained it’s not about being rich but having money to pay your bills and make the choices in life you want to make. Julie Women still earn a lot less than men the gender pay gap is massive. Joy Why is that? Julie In… Read More →

Beyond the ‘comfort zone smog’ is unknown life but if our heart attitude is right, beyond the cramped limitation of what we know there is a fruitful land found only by the courageous. Before I met MP Jacob Rees-Mogg for the WT4 programme I googled him. OMG! As I saw his unbelievable credentials from Eton, his political excellence and long family history I Panicked. Match that? I was an orphan found in a bush, grew up in Scunthorpe and failed GCSE maths 3 times. SHIT! As the cab came for me I mingled the Google with my past Tory memories of pompous resplendent self-important men… My plan was if things turn nasty I was up for a Harry Hill comedy… Read More →
After watching Miss Representation (please watch) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iNZINCAT-E I viewed the diet we have all subtly been fed pertaining to the false images of women and beauty in society today and felt saddened. How will women today find empowerment and start to change society issues on gender, race, age, beauty etc? Quite simply, a society predominately run by men for men is crippling everyone whether we like it or not. Do men care? Are men happy with the adoration of overly sexual images of women and the rise of the ‘Brainless Beauty?’ The 1950’s image of an intellectual dumbed down voiceless doll has been re-incarnated and propagated as the modern super babe called ‘Miss Representation’, perfect but purposeless. During the middle ages it… Read More →
