It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!   Ok so when have we ever needed an excuse to shop !! If you feel like treating yourself or a friend, this might just be the gift to mark the sparkle of any friendship. The Un-sporty Mum

Ok…. let me confirm from the get go, my little family are NOT the sporty type. We don’t revel in long hikes, we don’t all trundle up on our bikes and go for family rides nor do my husband and I have sporty hobbies. We are active of course but not in that ‘sporty’ way. At age 11, I was told that I would never been the athletic type. I was in the 2nd group (B team) at school for PE and with my curvy hips and large boobs things like long distance track or active type games requiring a less than attractive sports bra fitting at our local C&A, just didn’t fit well with my cool school cred. I… Read More →

Which colours attract men

Get Your Colours Right for Dating Success By our self-help expert and dating coach Dr Pam Spurr In my new book on dating I’ve covered how the colours you wear say so much about your personality when you go on a date. Of course every fashionista knows how colour can make a killer impact, but for the rest of us it can be a mystery.  We know the basics like if you want someone to notice you then definitely wear red. But something like black can be either sexy and sensual or conservative. In my new dating guide I mention how when certain colours work better – or worse – at creating attraction and sexual chemistry. So don’t forget you definitely… Read More →

HOW TO TEST YOUR MAN!

What he says about other women and what it says about him as a potential partner!  By our self-help expert and dating coach Dr Pam Spurr If you’re single and dating, or maybe just met someone, it’s confusing about how to tell what a man’s really like. Because we know everyone puts their best foot forward at first. So is he as good as he seems? Sadly you might discover down the line he’s actually not so nice. With hindsight you realise you missed signals showing he wasn’t worth your time.  But now it’s too late, you’ve been hurt or it’s just not been a good experience. Many women tell me if only they’d seen it coming they wouldn’t have… Read More →

Teaching my daughter to be unapologetically strong!

I love lifting weights ( I don’t know how many times I have started a blog with this sentence!!). I love it for many reasons, too many to list in one blog anyway! What is even more satisfying than my own love of lifting is my daughters. My awesome 10 year old daughter took up Olympic weightlifting this year and she loves it, hooray!! Now obviously this makes me overjoyed as it is a huge passion in my life and now we can share the joys of competing and hitting PB’s together but it goes far, far beyond that for me and for her. One of the other main (and possibly more important reasons) that I am thrilled that she… Read More →

Say NO to fit shaming!

You work hard at the gym. You are on point with your nutrition. In fact you are looking damn hot!! You can lift heavy shit and you do it well…..so why are we so embarrassed about showing off our hard work?! Social media is a prime example of “fit shaming”. Women will post a photo showing off that pert posterior or a chiselled six pack and all you have to do is sit back and wait for the negative comments to come flooding in! It seems that it is now socially acceptable to criticise someone for wanting to stay healthy and look good! The worst comments come from the people who say that showing off a defined, tight body is… Read More →

Anti Ageing Gloves

When I was young, I was fortunate that my gorgeous mum passed on a wealth of beauty tips & advice to me, some of which I only really started to understand as I grew older. One thing I’ll always remember her saying was, ‘make sure you cleanse, tone and moisturise’ and ‘look after these (rubbing her hands), they’re the first place to show signs your getting old’. Two years ago I became a mum to my beautiful daughter, my hands were constantly in water. I was either washing them, washing her, washing up or washing something! My hands got so dry the skin was splitting! I suddenly realised what my mum was talking about all those years ago, my hands were starting to… Read More →

Romance on hold – Parents at Work!

The dynamic has changed with the arrival of E and me and husband are so exhausted the mere thought of a date night it sometimes makes us even sleepier. ‘Want the kids overnight mum? Sure!’ Then our plans for a wild night, to go out and paint the town red slowly fizzle out and we end up at the cinema scoffing sugary treats to stay awake and watch a film like ‘normal’ couples. Ahhhh  those 1st dates we used to have – remember them?   We secretly hope we have enough energy to get home and….well you know. We now retire to bed as soon as the house looks vaguely tidy (I can’t see this changing for another 15… Read More →
