Romance on hold – Parents at Work!

The dynamic has changed with the arrival of E and me and husband are so exhausted the mere thought of a date night it sometimes makes us even sleepier. ‘Want the kids overnight mum? Sure!’ Then our plans for a wild night, to go out and paint the town red slowly fizzle out and we end up at the cinema scoffing sugary treats to stay awake and watch a film like ‘normal’ couples. Ahhhh  those 1st dates we used to have – remember them?   We secretly hope we have enough energy to get home and….well you know. We now retire to bed as soon as the house looks vaguely tidy (I can’t see this changing for another 15… Read More →

That time of the month

So last week was awesome. I hit a 100 kg squats for reps, deadlifts were feeling awesome and even my benching wasn’t as horrific as it normally is, thinks were looking good! So  this week I have to see how heavy I can lift on all three lifts, it didn’t go well!! What was I doing wrong? Why were my hips so freaking sore? Why did I want to go home and cry?! Was I having a nervous breakdown???? No!!! Turns out mother nature was at work and ruining my training by inflicting a period on me! I felt horrifically weak, everything seemed tedious and very emotional and I seemed to have ballooned into an exact replica of the little… Read More →

Battle of the binge!

You have one bite, then another and then before you know it you have demolished an entire cake, box of biscuits, tub of ice cream and six loaves of bread. That one bite escalated into a full blown marathon binge and now you feel disgusting! Distended stomach, ice cream sweats, tight waistband on those normally loose leggings……”why did I do it” you think to yourself. The guilt sets in, the self-loathing, hatred, feelings of disgust, shame and embarrassment. You hate yourself for not having the will power to resist temptation, if only you had only had that ONE bite! Immediate thoughts turn to how you can rectify this abysmal situation. You decide to eat less or nothing at all the following… Read More →

2.4 Children

I remember when we told some mutual friends we were expecting again, the looks that were exchanged between various couples. I immediately picked up on the glance and asked what was that look, giggle or knowing ‘hmmmmmm’ for?   In short, we were told quickly how great expanding your family is. How having a 2nd, 3rd etc baby somehow cements you as a family and it is great fun. The 1st now finally has a playmate and you will both marvel at your genius baby making skills…..”darling didn’t we do well producing the most beautiful children – how clever and amazing are we?” Then comes the ugly truth – ‘oh yes, we definitely row more now and about anything – the… Read More →

Maternity Fashion

Hi ladies, apologies for the delay in my latest blog, has been a manic couple of weeks!! I was speaking with one of my friends Fiona the other day, when she asked me if I knew of any places which sells smart maternity clothes/occasion wear.  This gave me inspiration to have a look what’s out there to suit her, but also for any of you lovely hot mamas to be. My friend’s criteria is to find an outfit for a wedding where she can show off her bump but ideally in a dress which looks flattering and not too baggy. I do like a challenge and love to help you out with any fashion dilemma’s you may have, check out… Read More →

Pregnant Celebs…..help or hinder?

A lovely gallery of images popped up on my Facebook news feed and had to share with my mummy readers ASAP I always find reading about celebrity mums and their fashion a little bittersweet. On the plus side, I get a bit of inspiration but on the flip side, I always feel less glamours, chubby and frumpy. Pregnancy hormones could be a factor in this but after I posted a photo of the effortlessly cool Gwen Stefani rocking leather leggings, high heels and bright red lippy – I vowed to make more of an effort with my looks on this 2nd baby.                           As a result….um, I have… Read More →

Baby thoughts and boobs

Already I am starting to think about baby things needed. To be entirely honest, its more about the things we didn’t get which I wish we had (more dummies for starters) because I really did over buy useless things the 1st time. I think all new mums or dad’s can be seduced by lots of lovely items that you use once or twice and then leave to fester away in drawers and cupboards haha! At least the big spend is out the way and we have our travel system, car seats and nursery furniture!                 Planning to breastfeed again is a big decision for me as I found it so bloody awful the… Read More →
