2.4 Children

I remember when we told some mutual friends we were expecting again, the looks that were exchanged between various couples. I immediately picked up on the glance and asked what was that look, giggle or knowing ‘hmmmmmm’ for?   In short, we were told quickly how great expanding your family is. How having a 2nd, 3rd etc baby somehow cements you as a family and it is great fun. The 1st now finally has a playmate and you will both marvel at your genius baby making skills…..”darling didn’t we do well producing the most beautiful children – how clever and amazing are we?” Then comes the ugly truth – ‘oh yes, we definitely row more now and about anything – the… Read More →

Baby Bottles and BPA

Since 2011 I am sure there are so many new bottles around and innovative feeding systems! I was recommended to a certain brand as I was planning on a mix of bottle and breast(and to be fair Tommee Tippee worked great for us) but I know there are huge choices out there! I went on recommendation but I know many parents who have gone through many brands to find the right one I know that new (ish) to the market are the Mothercare Innosence Bottle Feeding Range. Lots of advice on the website and it looks like lots of research has been done into these bottles! Im really impressed and they seem to have already been shorlisted for lots of… Read More →

2nd Baby syndrome?

I woke up in a bit of a panic yesterday – 12 weeks left till this little addition to our family arrive and we are so unorganised. Is this 2nd child syndrome or me being totally lax about the whole thing? I remember having the nursery done and full of lovely baby things and packs of nappies etc etc all ready in plenty of time 3 years ago. I even think I had the beginnings of a hospital bag. I was slightly more neurotic then – more time on my hands and more job stress so being super-duper organised was the only way we could cope with the imminent arrival of baby 1! Now we are trying to get Fin… Read More →

The ‘B’ word

Ahh the old Breasfeeding debate rumbles on. I really wish there was more help and positivity regarding feeding in general out there. Pro boob OR Pro bottle – PRO MUM I say! With my blossoming bump comes blooming boobs and I can safely say, these guys are getting bigger and bigger each day. I still haven’t got round to getting measured for some new maternity bras (NAUGHTY I KNOW!). These bad boys are already producing milk (sorrryyyyyyy) and giving me serious back ache.     I loved using this 1st time so will be getting a new batch ASAP along with some of their other products for mum and babe (Love Boo). There are lots of amazing skin care products… Read More →

Maternity Fashion

Hi ladies, apologies for the delay in my latest blog, has been a manic couple of weeks!! I was speaking with one of my friends Fiona the other day, when she asked me if I knew of any places which sells smart maternity clothes/occasion wear.  This gave me inspiration to have a look what’s out there to suit her, but also for any of you lovely hot mamas to be. My friend’s criteria is to find an outfit for a wedding where she can show off her bump but ideally in a dress which looks flattering and not too baggy. I do like a challenge and love to help you out with any fashion dilemma’s you may have, check out… Read More →

Pregnant Celebs…..help or hinder?

A lovely gallery of images popped up on my Facebook news feed and had to share with my mummy readers ASAP I always find reading about celebrity mums and their fashion a little bittersweet. On the plus side, I get a bit of inspiration but on the flip side, I always feel less glamours, chubby and frumpy. Pregnancy hormones could be a factor in this but after I posted a photo of the effortlessly cool Gwen Stefani rocking leather leggings, high heels and bright red lippy – I vowed to make more of an effort with my looks on this 2nd baby.                           As a result….um, I have… Read More →

What about….Moi?

SO yeah! What about me? One of the hardest things for me when I had finley was the loss of my time. No more afternoon naps, lazy lunches, mooching around the shops for hours, crazy nights out with 3 day hangovers, last minute mini breaks and spontaneous romantic moments! On the flip side you get this whole new person who is utterly and entirely yours to love, cherish, care for and spoil with love, attention and mothering but when things are not going well; I used to feel quite resentful and sad that my life had in fact changed.                   Thinking about the husband or partner role (i.e. those not giving birth/breastfeeding)… Read More →

Post Baby Unwanted Hair Loss!

So ladies. Living and owning a salon in such a picturesque area like Barnes, in South West London ( nappy valley ) I am always asked various post baby questions over and over again, one of those being about post pregnancy hair loss! With the Royal Baby being the most talked about topic at the moment, I thought I would do a series of posts about post baby hair, skin, emotions and diet tips. All of this will come from my own personal experience and the challenges I have faced over the last 12 months.   Since becoming a Mum I have found there is a lot of subjects that women don’t talk about. They tend to just ignore things and… Read More →

Sad Mummies = big tummies??

In a new report today via the Daily Mail, they commented on the impact of Junk Food for pregnant mummies. Especially those feeling depressed or struggling with their positive thoughts through pregnancy. I hold my hand up that when I was pregnant with Fin, I eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I will also admit that it did help ‘lift my mood’ when I felt a bit down – you know, feeling like a whale, constant trips to the toilet, no naughty drunken nights out, feeling left out…etc etc The result was not good. Heavy pregnant lady, lots of weight to loose and I now worry for Finley. As being one who struggles with their weight, not naturally a… Read More →
